SUSTAINABILITY
STATEMENT
Letter from Management
Sustainability is a key outlook in everything we do at
SAM Engineering & Equipment Berhad (“SAMEE”). We
proudly present our sixth annual Sustainability Statement
(“Statement”) for the financial year ending 31 March 2023
(“FY2023”).
SAMEE strongly believes that to perform our business
sustainably, the commitment and involvement on both
internal and external stakeholders are of the utmost
importance. We worked together in harmony with each of
our stakeholders to achieve our business goals and ensure
that we contribute positively to sustainability in terms of
the economy, environment and social agenda that we live
in today and for the betterment of future generations.
We revised our Quality Policy to emphasise Human Factors
in our pursuit of sustainability, creating an open reporting
culture and continuous improvement in health, safety,
productivity and product safety. Independent audits are
conducted annually to ensure the effectiveness of policies
and work procedures across all the sites. We embrace
the mindset that “Quality Is Everyone’s Responsibility,”
promoted through a top-down Quality Campaign and
orientation module for new hires. These actions drive our
commitment to sustainability, maintaining high-quality
standards and are complemented by our Quality Incentive
Scheme that rewards employees.
This Statement reflects our great journey and commitment
to creating sustainable value for all our stakeholders and
reports on the progress of our initiatives on Economic,
Environmental, Social and Governance (“EESG”) during
FY2023. The Statement also shows how SAMEE will
strive to deliver long-term and responsible value to our
shareholders and stakeholders.
The Malaysian sustainability reporting ecosystem has
developed significantly over the past ten years, going from
a mostly incipient stage to one where all listed issuers are
engaged in sustainability-related activities and statements.
Due to this circumstance, we prepared the Statement in
compliance with the Main Market Listing Requirements
of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd (“Bursa Securities”), with
reference to the third edition of the published Sustainability
Reporting Guide.
As SAMEE always strives to go above and beyond, we
make use of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development
Goals (“SDG”), Global Reporting Initiatives (“GRI”)
Standards and follow international best practices for
sustainability frameworks, standards and guidelines to do
our sustainability practices and reporting more meaningful
and pertinent. We envisioned to follow the Task Force
on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”) in
the upcoming reporting cycle in order to position our
organisation better in facing the risks posed by climate
change
About the Statement
This Statement covers the sustainability performance of SAMEE and its Group of companies during the financial year ended
31 March 2023. The scope will cover the business operations of SAMEE in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Our Sustainability framework and standards are in accordance with the following guidance and framework of Bursa
Securities Sustainability Listing Requirements and Bursa Securities’ Sustainability Reporting Guide 3rd edition. We adopt
the international practices, the Global Reporting Initiative (“GRI”) Standards 2021 and United Nations’ Sustainable
Development Goals (“UN SDGs”) to facilitate our sustainability disclosure. We recognise the importance of aligning with
the TCFD recommendations and are actively working towards integrating them into our sustainability framework, as part of
our ongoing commitment to enhancing our climate risk assessment and disclosure practices.
